Airborne Satellite Television Solutions

Intheairnet’s latest innovation, is a turnkey satellite
television system, designed to provide optimal
reception throughout world-wide satellite footprints.
The system uses the latest in radio frequency
technology to provide airline carriers with real-time
television broadcasts for their passengers. Sports,
News, Weather, and unlimited television programming
can be integrated into existing IFE systems, or be
part of Intheairnet’s new SharkFin™ digital IFE
system, for a total entertainment experience.

This is how it works: The high-gain antenna is used for both wide-body and narrow body
fuselages and it receives television programming from the television providers’ satellites.
The Antenna Control Unit reads data from the aircraft’s navigation system (IRS) and continuously
points the antenna at the satellite during aircraft movement.

The Airnet DBS International Receiver (ADiR) houses six channel receivers in a 4 MCU box.
The ADiR decodes the RF signal and encodes it into Mpeg or standard analog formats for distribution
throughout the aircraft. Airlines can have an assortment of cards and multiple ADiRs to receive
television signals from different service providers. The inTV™ System works with North American,
South American, European, Middle East and Asian Satellite television providers. Because the
system is tied to the FMS, it can automatically switch service providers when the aircraft leaves
one geographic area and enters another.
